The Daily Townsville launches as a standalone masthead
The Daily Townsville splits out of the shared Daily Network build to run on its own domain, dailytownsville.com.au. The launch covers local government, business, community, weather, sport and courts, and the morning email goes to Townsville subscribers from day one.
The Daily Network passes 19 cities
With the addition of Townsville, Toowoomba, Bendigo, Ballarat and Cairns, the Daily Network now publishes independent local news in 19 Australian cities under one editorial standard.
AI-assisted editorial screen goes live
Every article is now run through an automated editorial screen that holds back any piece naming a person in connection with crime, courts, allegations, misconduct or insolvency until a human editor has reviewed it. Lower-risk coverage continues to publish automatically.
Newsletter passes 10,000 weekly readers across the network
The combined daily edition crosses 10,000 weekly opens, a milestone for an independent, ad-light local news product.
