Townsville Suburbs Guide: Finding the Right Neighbourhood

Townsville's residential areas spread across a mix of coastal, hillside and suburban settings. North Ward and Belgian Gardens sit between Castle Hill and the Strand foreshore, popular with young professionals and families for their elevated position and beach proximity. Hyde Park, Currajong and Mundingburra in the inner south are solid mid-range options near schools and the CBD. The western corridor through Kirwan, Thuringowa Central and Cranbrook offers the city's largest concentration of suburban housing, with good school catchments and access to the Domain shopping centre. Newer outer suburbs including Burdell, Bohle Plains and Condon to the north of the city are popular for families seeking larger land areas at more affordable price points. Annandale near the river is a quieter, leafy option east of the CBD.
