Best Asian Restaurants in Townsville: Thai, Vietnamese and More
Townsville's Asian dining scene is solid for a North Queensland city, with Thai restaurants particularly well represented across the CBD and inner suburbs. Flinders Street East and the surrounding CBD grid have several reliable Thai options that are popular with both the local community and the Defence workforce. Vietnamese pho and banh mi are available from several cafes in the inner suburbs and are popular for lunch. The suburb of Aitkenvale has Asian grocery shops and a small cluster of Asian dining options. Japanese cuisine has grown in recent years with sushi trains and ramen shops appearing in the city centre. Chinese restaurants in the CBD and Kirwan areas serve both the local community and the university student market. Palmer Street's restaurant strip has Asian fusion options at a more contemporary price point. Checking current trading hours before visiting is worthwhile, as some operators change their days with the seasons.
