That result lifted the Blackhawks to third on the ladder after six rounds and came during a week when many locals tracked Argentina's extra-time win over Switzerland in the World Cup quarter-final. The timing matters because Townsville clubs now prepare for their own knockout fixtures while the global tournament continues in North America.

Official figures showed 4,512 spectators at the Blackhawks game, up 12 per cent from the corresponding round last year. Adult tickets cost $28, with juniors admitted free under the club's school program that began on July 1.

The Blackhawks host the Norths Devils at Townsville Stadium on July 18 at 5pm. The Warriors return to Murray Soccer Fields on July 14 for a top-of-the-table clash against the Townsville United reserves. Tickets for both matches go on sale at the venues and online from July 13.
